Artist Bio

Jessica Gilbert, born December 7th, is a visual artist currently living and working in Spartanburg, SC. She received her Fine Art Certificate at Greenville Technical College and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Converse College. She practices her art making process with mixed media comprising of portraiture and abstraction in the form of collage and found objects. In 2017 she participated in the 5th Annual Collegiate Invitational Art Exhibition in Spartanburg, SC. Concurrently, she became the recipient of the Best in 3D Award at Converse College’s Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. Her work has been featured in the Creative Quarterly: Journal of Art and Design magazine’s CQ40 online gallery and in a documentary titled, “Quiet Please…” where she was chosen to be filmed and interviewed for an art segment in January of 2017. She has had professional experience with a yearlong internship at the Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC and later worked for Tryon Fine Arts Center as marketing coordinator.
